Daily Mail - Cool Laser: Retired nurse, 72, who suffered from sun spots and pigmentation on her face after spending her spare time in the garden undergoes £600 cool laser treatment which experts liken to a 'facelift without going under the knife'

  • Vanessa Fuller, 72, from Surrey, spent 35 years working nights as a nurse
  •  Gran-of-five and mother-of-three never bothered with facials or skin peels
  • Started feeling more aware of toll sun and getting older had taken on her face
  • For 70th, treated herself to Cool Laser Resurfacing at Lisa Harris Skin Science

A grandmother-of-five whose face was plagued by sun spots and pigmentation on her face has undergone a dramatic transformation thanks to a 'revolutionary' £600 'cool laser' treatment.

Retired Vanessa Fuller, 72, from Surrey, spent 35 years working nights as a nurse and most of her spare time in the garden and looking after her family.

She told how she never had the time, money or inclination to indulge in facials or skin peels, but over the last few years she began to feel more aware of the toll the sun and getting older had taken on her face.

Mother-of-three Vanessa, who is also a great-grandmother-of-one, said she was impressed by the dramatic results which have attracted a string of compliments from her family and friends.

She told FEMAIL: 'I started to notice some really dark patches of skin on my cheek and forehead.

'I'm an outdoors person and I've always loved being outdoors so I put it down to that.'

As the dark patches got bigger and more pronounced, with one measuring nearly half an inch across her cheek, she eventually plucked up the courage to do something about it.

'I know it sounds funny to some people but I'd never had anything done to my face before,' Vanessa explained. 'I didn't think it was the thing for people like me.'

So Vanessa asked for vouchers for her birthday, and last year she was 'really nervous' when she went along to see Lisa Harris (www.lisaharrisskinscience.co.uk).

'Lisa and her team were lovely and soon broke the ice,' Vanessa recalled. 'She explained that I could have a Cool Laser Resurfacing to stimulate fresh skin growth and reduce the appearance of the sun spots and pigmentation.'

Vanessa paid approximately £600 for the treatment, which involved a laser being targeted at the skin on her face. Prices start from £500 depending on the area and course selected.

'It took about 45 minutes and wasn't painful,' Vanessa said.

'Afterwards my face was a bit pink and after a couple of days the skin began to peel off.

'I resisted the urge to pick it and within seven days after the treatment all the skin had peeled and my skin felt incredibly soft, tighter, and the dark spots had reduced dramatically.'

She added: 'My eldest grandchild is 32 and does modelling and she said that my skin looks really good now.

'Other people have commented that I look good.

'It's given me more confidence, and although there's a stigma of being old, and the idea that you shouldn't waste your money on things like this when you're old, but I think my generation is getting braver and I'm proof that it's never too late to try!'

Lisa said: 'Cool Laser works very well with most skin types and really helps to re-wind the clock.

'We can combine Cool Laser with HIFU (ultrasound) and EMS (electrical muscle stimulation), radio frequency with rose plant stem cell therapy and a collagen lifting light therapy, giving you the closest results to a face lift – without needing to go under the knife.

'It's also vital to remember that good diet and good gut health is paramount to improving skin quality, so we often suggest supplements to our patients alongside our treatment plans.'
